It's a zoo around here

Yesterday we explored the Idaho Falls zoo! It was a great Spring day to do it too and glad we did. The kids thought it was all pretty dang cool too. I was actually suprised at what they had there for such a smaller city zoo. They had the typical lion, tigers, birds and monkeys. Then they had red pandas, penguins, kangaroos, etc.

When we saw the SLEEPING lion Audriana was out of her stroller so when I went to put her back she got mad and let everyone know about it. The lion woke up so fast looking straight at us at her high pitch scream!

Peyton liked all the animals and kept saying ohhh, look! He made sure we all looked at them and he had to show Jordan. I think he liked the monkeys, the birds and anything in the water the best because he liked to say "water water" when we saw waterfalls. Poor kid got his dad's allergies! By the time we were done his eyes were very red.

He also kind of had a noteworthy opposite day, well at least for me it was noteworthy. He hates holding our hands because he likes to be independent. So when we make him hold our hands crossing the streets sometimes we get screamed at and fits the whole time we are doing it. The whole day all he wanted was someone's hand. He'd stop and say mom! With his hand up like I can't believe you are letting me walk around outside by myself right now! Maybe he thought it wasn't safe with all the animals around, not sure. Then when we were at the park he came over and wanted his shoes off. Which is so unlike him we probably should have checked him into a hospital. I think it was more he was sick of the sand getting in his sandals, but he usually just wants them dumped out and put back on because he hates having them off.

Here's the Eagle, comparable to the Hogle Zoo's gorilla so of course we had to get a picture.

Jordan didn't want to go to the zoo at first. He was actually having an attitude in the morning and saying animals are for slippers {I have no idea why he kept saying that!} but when we got there he grabbed the map and kept saying ok we need to go see the camels, then monkeys and snakes. He was our little tour guide with the map! He said his favorite animal was the camel. He wanted to see the snake the whole time, which of course was the last animal of the zoo. When we got there there were two huge snakes. He looked at them and said "nope, I want little ones." So he didn't even care for them.

They had a little children's zoo with the baby animals where you could see the baby camel get fed milk, but we weren't there at that time and then feed the goats, of course my kids don't like to do things like that so we didn't!

They were doing some games and they asked the boys if they wanted to play. So the boys got to use utensils like chopsticks, pliers and tweezers to pick up bird food to pretend they are birds beaks.

Kind of a morbid game, these ladies asked Jordan if he wanted to play a game. He was a bird. Flying along to each card. Then one card he was shot and the game was over...um ok! So of course Phil went along and took a picture of the cards that were shocking. I don't think they were taking into account the younger players of the game.
