The GFL: Garner Football League. It happens once a year, but the men in the Garner family prepare all year. Alright not really all year, but they sure look forward to it all year. It sounds really weird to say we go up for a weekend of fantasy football and I am pretty sure that the looks that people give us when we explain it are looks of bewilderment and disbelief that we actually travel 5 hours for fantasy football. So let me explain better, it isn't really just a fantasy football weekend it is more of a family reunion that happens between two families, Phil's father's and uncles family. They have 9 kids of their own with some being married so it is actually a very big group when we get with them.
So friday afternoon we started our 5 hour trip to Boise. We put the boys together in the car so they could play better and watch the movie together. It actually was a good idea except for when Peyton got a little bored while Jordan was sleeping and tried to play with his hands. Anyway, Jordan fell asleep 20 minutes into the drive and while we were eating the lunch on the road...
When we got to the hotel the boys decided it would be fun to jump on the beds...

Friday night we went to a little party. We ate some good food and had fun getting together. They had a little playground out there so the kids got to play together. They had a ton of fun playing together just had to share some pictures here...

Saturday morning some of the group went golfing in the morning. The boys and I got to have a relaxing morning watching the disney channel (or in Jordan's words Playhouse Disney...he sings it to the tune that they do on the commercial for those familiar with it). Then we got to eat some breakfast and play around until Phil got back.
When he got back we went to the official GFL, we had some great lunch and then the "owners" of the teams went to pick out their players for the draft. It is actually a pretty fun sight to see. They go all out, have lamps for each team (12 in all) lighting up their section of the table, have a big screen projected for all to see, theme songs set for each team, trophy's, medals, and apple cider for the winners of the previous years. This year was Phil's first year to own his own team. The past two years he has been running his cousin's team while he was gone on an LDS mission. The years before that he ran a team with his dad. So the debut of the Bayonne Godfather's happened at the GFL this year, just for the record Phil did an awesome job for David's team and they won it all for the second year in a row! So we will see how the first year of his or our team will be... I think he needs to decide on what position we each will be on the team... Jordan the coach, Peyton the assistant coach, and the girl the cheerleader/mascot... we may have to work on that!
Actually the boys did help out Phil a lot to choose his team. Maybe we should explain what they do... (Jordan was actually sitting there for awhile next to him helping out but I didn't have my camera out while he was helping).
We are all in the same big room, yet to make a trade on their team they had to call who they wanted to trade... So here is Peyton helping out with the negotations...

Then helping to choose the players and writing down what they choose!
After a few rounds (there are 10 in all so it takes about 2-3 hours to do the actual draft) the boys decided to play with the other kids... here is Jordan posing with his train.
Peyton made a friend with Phil's cousin's son, Grant. They are only a few weeks apart and one would get the ball, throw it and then they would chase it. They were laughing pretty hard.
The ball went under the table so Grant went to go get it, Peyton decided to start playing peek-a-boo with him.
This is our nephew Boston (Camille's son, which for those that don't know is Phil's sister) he just always has this cute look and smile so just wanted to post it cause I thought it was a good picture of his personality!
Jordan brought some of his books so Camille started reading them to the kids, pretty soon all the kids migrated to her to hear the stories.

It was a fun yet short trip, we had to leave right after the draft on Saturday night and our whole weekend was pretty busy. The boys were pretty wore out! We stopped to get some drinks in town before we left and Jordan fell asleep while we were in the drive thru, Peyton fell asleep about 5 minutes later. They did watch a lot of Thomas DVD's in the car and did really well for the 10 hours we spent in the car! We will see how this season goes with all the picks Phil did and how well the Bayonne Godfather's team does!

I am so impressed with the way you were able to discribe the GFL! It is so hard to explain. I did my best on our blog too, but I don't know if anyone can really understand it!
Thanks for the pictures you shared! It was a fun weekend with you guys!
